Jump Rope Rhymes

Some Old Fashion Fun- Jump Roping!

With Six girls and Three Boys in this Home... we definitely have a lot of "girl" activities going on!

JUMP ROPING takes the lead..
( next to home spas - nails, hair, the works!)

Here are my "jump ropers," and they wanted to share a few of their Jump Rope Rhymes for other families to try out.
It is guaranteed fun- all the way around..

We have a lot of jump ropes... even our 4 year old joins in the fun... it is amazing how early they can start jump roping!  Have fun!  Here are a few rhymes to try:

Benjamin Franklin went to France
To teach the ladies how to dance.
First the heel, and then the toe,
Spin around and out you go.

Or, How about this one?

Early in the morning, about eight o'clock,
What should I hear but the postman's knock.
Up jumps ____________ to open the door,
How many letters did she find on the floor?
A, B, C, D . . . .

Ever Hear of this Rhyme before?

Cinderella dressed in yella,
Went downstairs to kiss a fella,
Made a mistake and kissed a snake.
How many doctors did it take
1, 2, 3, . . . .

 Ladybug, Ladybug, turn around,
Ladybug, Ladybug touch the ground.
Ladybug, Ladybug shine your shoes,
Ladybug, Ladybug read the news.
Ladybug, ladybug, how old are you?
One, two, three, four . . . . .

Another fun twist to our jumproping is adding memory verses to their jumping.
My girls have been memorizing Proverbs 3 to there jumps!
What a way to combine fun and learning-
You can have your children try Memory verses, math facts,, geography, states & capitals, etc.

Try some Old Fashion Fun this weekend!

Are you a couscous fan?

Today is couscous day .. here in homeschool land, where you choose what and when you want to eat.. not comforming to a schedule set by someone else, nor a menu planned months ahead.

We are couscous fans!  Are you?

Do you know what couscous is?
Believe it or not.. It is a grain.  A handy , little, NUTRITIOUS grain that you make in 5 minutes!!!!

Here is our lovely, delcious lunch of Parmesan, and Broccoli & Cheese Couscous.

WHY am I sharing a picture of our lunch with you...

Because we are such BIG fans of couscous,,, I wanted to share a recipe with you.

There are a few ways of preparing couscous.  It is as easy as boiling water!  TRUST me!

Look in your grocery store- perhaps the Natural food section, or bulk foods for BULK Couscous.

Bring 1 c. couscous and 1 1/2 cup water to a boil.
Reduce heat immediately and cook for one minute or until water is absorbed.
Cover and remove from heat.  Let it stand for 5 minutes.  Fluff with fork.
Add seasonings to taste.  ( You can do this while boiling for the minute.)
( examples- substitute half of the water for organic chicken broth, or use bouillon with 1 c. water.)
I LOVe to mix in cooked chiken pieces or frozen peas for the kids.

(Did I tell you that yet?)

For those that didn't make it to Health food, or bulk food section...
Pick up some of  these off of the shelf -

Easy- and delicious!

Try some couscous this week, and tell me if you are a fan!!  I bet you will be!

Step back !

from it all...

I am not going to beat around the bush....

I am mommy...
I have been diagnosed with the infamous syndrome ..."Touched and Touchy!"

It certainly seems that not a minute goes by where I am not holding someone, rocking someone,, feeling the pull and leaning on my legs,,, even while sitting... a hand in my hand, a hand on my sweater as we cross the road, because the other two hands are already being held,

So, what did I say the other day??????-
..... shocking my entire household into stares, and gaping mouths..

"Step back! - please"
(Wasn't that polite and sweet of me to add the please?)

I am mommy, and I love waking up to that call every day.
I am mommy and love to hold my children's hands,
I am mommy, AND wife, and am held and loved by both of these roles.

I needed my family to just step back- step away from me and give me a little space.

But more importantly, I needed to step back myself, and take some time to myself and with the Lord.
We can all use alone time,, and we should all make a concerted effort to do this...

Symptoms of the Touched and Touchy Syndrome:
-Easily Annoyed
-Sharper speech/tones
-Noticing that little things aren't important any more- ( changing clothes, combing hair.. lol)
-Not seeing the joy in the life around you

Step back- please!
Call unto the Lord, and let Him fill your empty tank with His word, and with peace.
Step-back- find your joy again..
Those little fingers in your hands will grow larger than yours someday.
Wrap your arms around those you love, and let the refreshment of the Holy Spirit surround you both.

There is SONSHINE in my soul today!

Do you think I should have stopped her?

This is my first spring on feet.. able to explore, and make more laundry for my mom!

 A little fiber ...

There really isn't any thing more to say.  A picture is worth a thousand words- and boy, do we have fun around here!
