Amish Country

I am posting my Wednesday Memory a little later than I would like, but life has a way of interrupting and prioritizing itself before my blog. Thats ok.
My blogging CHUM Lynnette, has created this weekly idea of sharing our memories, and I have thoroughly enjoyed this Walk Down Memory Lane.
Stop and visit Lynnette sometime here.

Because of the cost of traveling with a larger family, we have done our best to find closer places to travel to and make some fun family memories.
Lancaster, Pennsylvania - AMISH Country - has now become an Annual trip for our family.
It is about 4 hours away, and we love visiting some place new while there each time.
One of our absolute favorite stops while in Lancaster is here ! Check it out!

The Lion and The Lamb~

This famous Theatre in Lancaster, has now, also built another theater in Branson, MO. Maybe you live close enough to one of these to visit?

If you ever have the opportunity to see one of their productions - based on Biblical accounts - Don't miss out! The whole family will love it!

In addition to seeing a show while away, we also visit some wonderful Amish shops, eat some amazing food, relax at a family resort - talking and walking and sharing.

I think this is one of our favorite places to re-visit because of the simplicity of life. The quiet, and peace we find on our trips there probably have more to do with our time away as a family, and the things that we focus on while we are there.... Each other..

Good Morning September,...(By the way, I am curious what your middle name is?)

Anyway, I loved your post this morning, and your pictures. I would love to go to Amish Country! I always read about the Amish and find their lifestyle appealing.

The place you visited with the Lion and the Lamb sounds interesting. We will check it out next time we go to Branson with Lynnette and the kids,...(this fall)

Stop by today and see my pictures from our Nephew's wedding that we attended last weekend in Nebraska. It was a fun time too.
    I love Family gatherings,...and weddings!

    Love ya,
    Linda @ Truthful Tidbits

I love the Amish country and it's been so long since I've been there. Perhaps it's time for a trip...

    September,

I love Lancaster PA! We lived there for 2 1/2 years. It has been quite a while though, we moved away in 1990. We loved it there, but had to move because of hubby's job situation. It has been too long since I have been back to visit also. My nieces friend is a performer at Sight and Sound. My Mom and most relatives live in VA near DC and they go up there at least once a year, but I think it might be more. It is only 2 1/2 hours away. Thanks for sharing, it brings back wonderful memories.

    Blessings,
    Karen

This post was exciting to see and brought back a lot of my own memories. We lived in Lancaster Co, PA for over 30 years and we moved from there to GA in Jan. 2007

We've been to Sight & Sound quite a few times. Sometimes the owner would give out free tickets during slow times and I would get some from a mutual friend. Have you done the background tour? It's really worth it. We did it for a homeschool field trip and it was great!

What are some of the other places you go to while there?

May I ask where you are, that you're a 4 hrs. drive? North, West, South...

I have only been to Amish Country in Ohio, but I loved it. It is so nice to have peace and relaxation on vacation.

Great pics! My in-laws have relatives near there & visit every other year. They brought back the best blackberry jam I've ever had!

What lovely pictures and sweet memories. I also love driving through Amish country. We live very close to a small Amish community and have some friends among them.

My parents once took us to Shipshawanna(sp??), Indiana and we had a great time there. :)

I have never been to Amish Country. Your photos are beautiful though. That sculpture of the lion and the lamb is very neatly done!

We don't have a huge family, but the finances are what is keeping us closer to home these days :(

So nice to have found your blog - and glad you stopped by my blog today. Lancaster is one of most favorite places to visit....and I've been to Sight and Sound several times - never disappointed!!

I really enjoyed reading your 100 random things....sure I could never think of 10 things interesting enough to share about myself. By the way - we are in the middle of "research" to buy a new vacuum - so I would love your input!!

I love to vacuum and I want a really good one but I also want the lightest one I can find because I live in a four-story townhouse...LOTS of stairs!

Look forward to checking back soon!

That looks wonderful! I know what you mean about having to be creative when traveling. We have some beautiful Amish country in Yoder - just about 40 minutes from us - horse drawn carriages and everything. I love to see it as it's so odd and interesting.

I love your pictures. I want to go there. :) Will you take me with you next time? hee hee
    Love you.
